Description
Perry will present findings from his influential 2018 study, Devaluation of Assets in Black Communities, which cited that homes in Black-majority neighborhoods when compared to their nearly all-white counterparts are undervalued by 23% or approximately $48,000. These sobering statistics certainly provide evidence of systemic racism in housing markets. However, it also offers a concrete goal: to restore the value that is extracted by racism. Perry will also present opportunities to reinstate lost value through targeted investments and policy change.
